If you are starting a job near Rojana, finding a room often happens alongside arranging transport and preparing for your first working day. “Near the industrial park” is a useful starting point, but it does not tell you whether a particular room suits your routine. A short distance on the map can still involve an awkward turn, a different entrance or a journey that does not work well after your shift. Before contacting properties, write down where you actually need to go, how you will travel and what you can comfortably spend each month. These three details make an enquiry much more useful than asking for the lowest rent alone.

Check the route to your workplace, not just to the park

Use your company’s location or the entrance you will use as the destination. Check the route in both directions, including any U-turns. If you drive, parking matters too. If you depend on an employee shuttle, confirm the pickup point and allow for the walk to it. Where practical, try the journey at a time close to your own working hours. This is particularly useful for shift workers. A viewing on a quiet afternoon may give a different impression from the journey you will make on working days. Treat map estimates as a starting point rather than a guaranteed travel time.

Compare the whole monthly cost

A lower advertised rent does not always leave you with more money at the end of the month. Transport and recurring charges can change the comparison. Write down the same items for each property:
  • Rent and what it includes.
  • How water, electricity and recurring services are charged.
  • Your return journey cost over a normal working month.
  • Payments required before moving in, including any deposit or advance rent.
Also ask whether the quoted rate applies to an available room or is simply a starting price. Our room-rental cost checklist explains how to separate move-in payments from regular bills.

View the room with your own routine in mind

Think beyond how the room looks in a photograph. When will you get home? Where will your belongings fit? When do you need quiet? Someone sleeping after a night shift may notice different issues from someone who works during the day. Ask to see the room you would actually rent where possible. Look at the door, windows, natural light and any signs of leaks. Check which equipment is included, and test it only with the caretaker’s permission. If anything needs repairing, clarify what will be completed before you move in. Website photographs can help you shortlist a property, but they cannot confirm the room’s current condition.

Settle the questions before paying

Make sure you understand the rental period, payment date, move-out notice, deposit-return conditions and any rules relevant to your situation, such as additional occupants, vehicles or pets. Ask for terms you can read again later. Confirm payment instructions directly with the property rather than relying on a forwarded message.
