Check the route to your workplace, not just to the park
Use your company’s location or the entrance you will use as the destination. Check the route in both directions, including any U-turns. If you drive, parking matters too. If you depend on an employee shuttle, confirm the pickup point and allow for the walk to it. Where practical, try the journey at a time close to your own working hours. This is particularly useful for shift workers. A viewing on a quiet afternoon may give a different impression from the journey you will make on working days. Treat map estimates as a starting point rather than a guaranteed travel time.Compare the whole monthly cost
A lower advertised rent does not always leave you with more money at the end of the month. Transport and recurring charges can change the comparison. Write down the same items for each property:- Rent and what it includes.
- How water, electricity and recurring services are charged.
- Your return journey cost over a normal working month.
- Payments required before moving in, including any deposit or advance rent.
